This policy explains what Luminhood LLC ("Luminhood", "we") collects when you use our websites and apps, why we collect it, and what control you have over it. It applies to luminhood.com and to every Luminhood app, unless an app publishes its own policy that says otherwise.

The short version: we collect what a product needs in order to work, and not more. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers.

What we collect

Information you give us. Account details such as your email address, and the content you create inside a product — journal entries, reflections, check-ins, goals, notes, and similar. In our reflection and coaching apps, this content is the product; it is stored so that it can be shown back to you later.

Information collected automatically. Basic technical data needed to operate and debug the service: device type and operating system, app version, coarse region, crash reports, and error logs. We use privacy-respecting analytics to understand which features are used. We do not use advertising identifiers, and we do not run third-party ad trackers.

Information we do not collect. We do not ask for or store government identifiers. We do not collect precise location. We do not buy personal data about you from data brokers.

How we use it

  • To provide the product — storing your entries, generating your prompts, and showing your history back to you.
  • To keep it working — diagnosing crashes, fixing bugs, and preventing abuse.
  • To improve it — understanding, in aggregate, which features people actually use.
  • To communicate with you — service notices, security notices, and replies to your support requests.

We do not use your personal content to serve you advertising.

AI processing

Some features send your content to third-party AI providers in order to generate a response — a prompt, a summary, or a reflection. When this happens:

  • Only the content needed for that feature is sent.
  • It is sent for the purpose of producing your result, and it is not used by us to train models.
  • We choose providers who contractually commit not to train their models on data submitted through their business APIs.

If a feature uses AI, we say so in the product.

Storage, retention, and security

Your data is stored on infrastructure operated by established cloud providers in the United States. We use encryption in transit and at rest, restrict internal access to what is necessary, and keep the number of systems that touch personal content deliberately small.

We keep your content for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your personal content within 30 days, except where we are required to retain records for legal or accounting reasons. Backups are purged on their own rolling schedule, typically within 90 days.

No system is perfectly secure. We do not claim otherwise.

Who we share it with

We share personal information only with service providers who help us run the product — hosting, databases, crash reporting, analytics, email delivery, payment processing, and AI inference — and only to the extent they need it to perform that service.

We may also disclose information if we are legally required to, or to protect the rights and safety of our users or the public. If Luminhood is ever involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, personal information may transfer as part of that transaction; we will give notice before your information becomes subject to a different policy.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Your choices and rights

Wherever you live, you can:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct anything inaccurate.
  • Export your content in a portable format.
  • Delete your account and the content in it.

Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to object to or restrict certain processing, to withdraw consent, and to appeal a decision we make about your request. Residents of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, and other states with comprehensive privacy laws, as well as residents of the UK, EEA, and Switzerland, have these rights under their local law. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of them.

To make a request, email privacy@luminhood.com. We will verify your identity through the email address on your account and respond within the time your law requires — generally 30 to 45 days.

Children

Our products are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, email privacy@luminhood.com and we will delete it.

Health information

Our wellness and coaching products are tools for reflection. They are not medical devices and are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any condition. Luminhood is not a healthcare provider and is not a HIPAA covered entity, so content you write in our apps is not protected health information under HIPAA — it is protected by this policy and by the security measures described above. Please keep that distinction in mind when deciding what to write.

International transfers

We operate from the United States, and your information is processed there. If you use our products from outside the US, you are transferring your information to the US, which may have different data protection laws than your country. Where required, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent lawful transfer mechanism.

Changes

We will update this policy as our products change. Material changes will be announced in the product or by email before they take effect, and the date at the top of this page will always reflect the current version.
